Equalizer

Barry gives every app its own equalizer, independent of the others. Brighten a podcast without touching your music.

Open the equalizer

Click the faders icon on an app’s row. The band strip drops open underneath it.

The bands

Ten bands, from 31 Hz to 16 kHz: 31, 62, 125, 250, 500, 1k, 2k, 4k, 8k, 16k. Each one moves ±12 dB, and the fill grows from the 0 dB centre line in both directions so you can see at a glance what you cut and what you lifted.

Hovering a band shows its exact frequency and gain above the strip.

Presets

Barry ships 17 presets, grouped by what they are for:

  • Neutral — Flat, Loudness, Warm
  • Bass — Bass Boost, Bass Cut, Sub Rumble
  • Vocal — Vocal Clarity, Podcast, Voice Isolate
  • Treble — Bright, Treble Boost, De-Harsh
  • Genre — Rock, Electronic, Classical, and more

Pick one from the preset menu in the strip’s header. Once you move a band by hand the preset is no longer selected — you are on your own curve.

Saving your own

Set the bands the way you like, then choose Save as… in the preset menu. Your presets live alongside the built-in ones and can be applied to any app.

Reset returns every band to 0 dB. It is greyed out when the curve is already flat.

Headphone correction

Barry can also correct for the headphones themselves, which is a different job from per-app EQ: it compensates for a known frequency response rather than changing how something sounds on purpose.

Open an output device’s settings and search for your model. Barry uses AutoEq profiles, and you can import any ParametricEQ.txt file if your headphones aren’t listed.

Correction applies to the device, so it stacks under whatever per-app EQ you have set.
