Opening Barry

Both are rebindable in Settings — click the shortcut and press the combination you want.
App volume shortcuts
These act on the frontmost app that is currently making sound, so you don’t have to open anything to turn down whatever just got loud.

They are on by default and can be switched off individually in Settings. They need Accessibility permission, the same one Barry asks for at first launch.
Inside the panel
Arrow keys move between apps, and the slider under the cursor responds to the scroll wheel. Hold Shift while scrolling for fine steps.
Media keys
Your Mac’s own volume keys are greyed out on HDMI, DisplayPort, and many USB outputs, because those devices expose no volume control of their own. Turning on Media keys in Settings lets Barry drive them anyway, through DDC/CI for monitors or a software gain where that isn’t available.
Barry only takes the keys on outputs macOS cannot serve itself. On your built-in speakers, or anything else with a real hardware volume, the keys stay with macOS — and so does its own volume HUD.
Volume HUD
When Barry does handle a volume key, it draws its own overlay in place of the system one, in two styles. Turn it off in Settings if you would rather see nothing.
