Per-app routing

Music on the speakers, a meeting in your headset, at the same time. Routing is per app, so each one can go somewhere different.

Route an app

Click the branch icon on an app’s row and pick a destination.

• Follow system output — the default. The app goes wherever your Mac’s output goes, and follows it when you switch.
• A specific device — the app stays on that device no matter what the system output does.

You can select more than one device. The app then plays to all of them at once, which is how you get the same audio in the room and in your headphones.

The branch icon lights up when an app is routed anywhere other than the system output, so you can see at a glance which apps are pinned.

When a device disappears

Unplug a routed device and the app falls back to the system output rather than going silent. Plug it back in and the routing returns.

Device priority

If you always want a particular device to win when it is connected, set the order in the output device’s settings. Barry follows that order as devices come and go.
